Two part question "Latest NVidia Drivers" and "when/what?"

Before I take a pickaxe to this "really great" Iwill KK266 that I should never have bought, I'm not done giving up on the Hercules MX card. New card, reference design, known "really good" manufacturer. The card has got to be OK.

If I go to Ctrlaltdel, and grab, say, the 11.0's or so, they should work on this card, right?

Well, second part of the question. Upon bootup, when you have the "Windows Clouds" screen, with the scrolling bluish bar at the bottom; that's the point where the display switches from VGA to whatever you've set, right? So, being that my display cuts out, (just goes blank...keyboard dead), but box still running, what could my problem be? I'm desperate here.

My buddie, Duvie! I have the 11.0's in my rig and they run way better than any of the 10-series did. But then again, I have an Abit mobo...so maybe they won't work well on this Iwill thing.

no the 11's work great with the IWILL board and I think there are 12's just released. I will search the forums and link you if I find them.

Go into that site - go to forum section - go to drivers - post a topic and ask for best recommended drivers for your card...maybe explain your situation (maybe someone has had similar problem).

If you know the drivers are good you may be able to rule vid out altogether and just rma the damn board...get the asus or the msi turbo board.

I am havind trouble locating the detonator 12 drivers I am running them so I know they are out and they raised my 3dmark2001 score 230 points🙂 (In low detail)

Michael you got this same vid card to work on yur abit board using det 11's? If so I think it is got to be something with this mobo...

When you restarted you...

a) set back bios to all defaults...

b) reformatted...

c) installed motherboard drivers and patches first, then direct x 8.0, then detonators...

then problem on restart?

What are your voltages?

I should've been more specific. This system is brand new. Just built it from scratch. It's actually my girlfriend's system, which is the main reason why I'm wigging-out. She's a real whiner. But that's my problem. 😉

I haven't tried the MX card in any other system. Honestly I don't want to try it in my system for fear of hosing it. We ALL KNOW how "sensitive" systems are to videocards and their drivers, right? :disgust:

Lemme see if I can remember this correctly.

Cleared the CMOS
Reformatted the drive
Loaded Win98SE
Loaded VIA 4.29's
Loaded the vidcard driver

The rest you know. It works fine in VGA mode, but as soon as you restart with the drivers installed, 😛OOF: black screen and Mike yelling and cursing. I'm sooooooooooooo tired of seeing her desktop in 480x640 or whatever that pitiful freakin resolution is. 60Hz refresh sucks the big one too.

I removed the MX from the Add/Remove programs as well as in device mangler. I'm sure there's still some residual stuff in there. I could run Regcleaner on it to neaten things up, then try the 11.s or something....I'm just lost at this point.

If it is a mx but not a geforce 2 mx I do not believe those detonators may work with it...do you have the same type of card in other computer?

have you tried another agp card in this board...one that you know works?

Note: when did you install direct x drivers? should do before you add vid card drivers...

I do beleive it may be a refresh issue with your monitor. Go into the advanced properties and set to to Optimal. I noticed when changing video drivers from NVidia the refresh gets strayed, after mannually setting it it should work.
Yes the 12's are out
I'm using the 10.80's on my GF2

<< If it is a mx but not a geforce 2 mx >>

I'm not sure what that means? There is only a GF 2 MX!?!

Detonator drivers will work for TNT cards onwards are far as I am aware?

Personally I'd set your card up with the supplied drivers that came with the board to ensure the card is in fact OK

If that does not help try the card in another system or try another card in the Iwill system - they are pretty robust items.
