two pair cat5? how do you make this?

i have a D-Link DSS-8+ switch and it says this in the manual...

"The DSS-8+ can be connected to another switch or other devices via a two-pair category 3, 4, or 5 UTP/STP Straight-through or Crossover cable. A category 5 cable must be used for 100Mbps operation. The connection can be accomplished from any port on the DSS-8+ to any of the 10Mbps or 100Mbps ports on another switch or other devices."

so basically i need a two-pair cat5 cable and i can put it in any port on this switch and any port on the main hub (this is in a college dorm). i assume a two-pair cable means you are only using 4 of the wires, but in what order? 1 2 3 6?

any help would be great...thanks!

i can make cables fine...ive made thousands over the last few years, but ive just never heard this terminology. also, the switch didnt register an uplink with a crossover or a straight through.

nevermind...the "IT" department at my school is filled to the brim with retards and they assured me my plug was connected in the main distribution closet, but it wasnt.
