Two Optical ATA Drives, Both on the Same or Different Channel?

This is a semi-noobish question, but I was just wondering which is better and could never find a definitive answer.

I currently have two ATA optical drives (Pioneer DVD slot load & Pioneer DVR-106D). Right now I have the DVD reader as the master, and DVD-R as the slave on my primary ATA channel.

I was just wondering if I would see any type of improvment (or if I could use both drives at once) if I moved them onto seperate ATA channels.

Thanks!

they're fairly better connected if both are on the same channel master-slave taking into an account your motherboard only has two IDE channels and the other channel left is residing one or two hdd,, btw if you're not using none of them (likely using SATA drives) then it'd be better have them indepedent.

If you have your HD's on SATA, then it would be better to put your optical drives on seperate channels.
