Twice I've been late for work because my alarm clock's buzzer quit working. No joke, the alarm is set and when it comes time to beep, I hear a faint electrical squeak and then nothing. Two different alarms!

After the first one broke, I started setting my cell phone alarm as a backup every morning. Sure enough the one night I forget to set my cell alarm, my regular alarm breaks. 30 minutes late for work, bah.

Stupid. I hate screwing over my coworkers by being late (they can't leave until I get there!)

Not only are you late for work but you also nef, you're fired!

In all seriousness, if it's really important that you be on time buy redundant alarm clocks (don't just replace the one that failed, use 2 or 3 simultaneously) or pay for a wake up call service.

lol well normally I do have two alarms, but I forgot to set one and magically the other one broke.

I went paranoid about my really old alarm clock about half a year ago, so now I have two. This way, there's some redundancy.

Problem is, I set them around the same time, so if I don't hit the snooze, I'm screwed. I was late 15 minutes one day because of that. They use to have staggered 'going off' times, but I thought it was too annoying. Daddy wants uninterrupted snoozing.

I got an expensive Timex and never had that issue. It does Atomic Time, nature sounds, CD, line in, multiple alarms.
Spend money on a quality product and you wont have issues.

I've never had an alarm not work on me, though I did find out that after a certain time period, it will stop. I slept right through it, a few times, and I wake up in shock realizing I'm late and check if the alarm was set properly and turned on, and it was.

I've had the same digital LED alarm clock from Walgreens for 15 years... it's never not worked. It errs on the side of "don't turn off"! I've had dreams where I couldn't make it stop beeping, even after unplugging it, taking it apart, and removing the switch.

If I *really* need to wake up I set my computer to blast some rock or metal through my stereo. Quite the fail-safe :)

I always have two alarms. One of them has decreasing snooze (+10, +5, + 3, +2, +1, no more snooze allowed). It eventually wakes me up.

I've never had an alarm clock not work on me but I sure have used that excuse as I'm sure many of us have.
