Two NICs, a router ,and a printer

One NIC connects to Linksys router, works fine.

I installed another NIC to connect directly to a printer with a network adapter.

I have not been able to find settings that work so that I can see the printer.

I am using a crossover cable, but I cannot ping the printer.

What should I be setting for my TCP/IP addresses (etc.) on the PC, and the printer? Do I need to bridge the NICs?

BTW - the printer works fine connected to the router with a straight thru cable, but that is not the way we want it connected.

In order to use the printer, the computer will have to be on all the time, what I recomend you do is get a cheap switch(See Hot Deals) and connect it to a crossover cable that you connect to the router. Then, connect the printer and the computer ro the switch with a regular cable.

Or, you could set the printer up in the computer with a parallel cable and then share it with windows. I have never been able to get windows bridging to work with out being extreamly flakey.
