I have a buddy's machine in for an upgrade and restore, and he wants me to keep his e-mails. He has Netscape 4.7. How do I export these e-mails so I can copy them back to the system after the restore?

Also, what version of netscape is the best?

Thanks,
Buck

For the second one, you should switch over to Mozilla, since Netscape is a dead franchise now. No clue about the first question, as I haven't dealt with that version of Netscape before. :)

Thanks ClueLis, I agree. I wish I could talk him out of it. I finally found a site that instructed me to copy the Communicator and User folders and burn them to a CD. They claim I can replace the new ones with these and the e-mails will appear. To be on the safe side I'm copying all his photos and documents from his e-mails to his Documents file and burning them first.

Sounds like you've got it covered. There should be an "export" option in the file menu of the email app (composer? sorry can't remember which name). You may need to look under manage profiles, I can't remember for sure (it could be a seperate link in the netscape shortcut directory in the programs menu)

4.7x was a nice browser... Sorry to see Netscape in such shambles.
