whats the difference between your site being hosted on a linux server or a windows server?and can you change where your domain is directed to more then once, like one week it go's to your own ip,then the next it go's to another site and so on?

i think theres different types of languages you can use for either. i think php is mainly represented on the linux side, and ASP usually only resides on the windows side. but there can be times when they are represented on both i believe.

plus stability. i think linux servers are a bit more stable.

memo spelled it out - its personal prefrence in alot of cases. The big difference is if you want to do PHP or ASP programming, but some hosts offer both now. I'll agree - I think stability (and security) is better on linux.

i wasn't sure what other forum to place this in.

does anyone know about the redirect stuff?that's what i am really curious about.

1) Most of the internet uses Linux which is considerably cheaper than Windows web hosting. Unless you need ASP, I would recommend Linux.

2) Yes you can do that with your web hosts control panel, I can show you how this works with one of my web host accounts.

Just PM me your AIM/MSN and we can chat.
