I keep reading about people using two monitors. I was just wondering what you use two monitors for and exactly how do you do it?

It's nice just to spread your desktop.

Here at work I have whatever app I'm using open on my main monitor and move stuff like Email over on my secondary monitor.

It helps from having to click open windows over and over and gives a much better perspective of the work one is doing.

Well I have two monitors and what I like about it is I can have like photoshop open in one and maybe dreamweaver in another and it just makes it easier to work on multiple things at one time. I often surf the net on one monitor and have my TV tuner or whatever on the other. Ya it's probably a little overkill and I'm sure I could manage just fine with one but once you get used to having all that desktop sapce,it's hard to go back to just one.

Amish pretty well summed it up

That's sorta what I figured... have two apps open at once. But, how do you do it. Does it take a special cable or software?

You need a video card that can support dual display, I got a new Radeon 9100 128DDR just for that the other day. Yet to get a second monitor though.

Or an operating system that supports dual displays - you don't need a special video card at all ... just two of em :)

I use duals here at work a lot - I'll typically have my email and support tickets open on the 17" monitor to the side and whatever I'm actually working on opened on the 21" in front.

Or just get a PCI video card if you have an AGP video card already .....that works very well too. ...I used to use a geforce2 and a voodoo 3 but now I have a dual display card...Either way is fine

Anyone here tied a dual set up with a 9700 AIW?

My main monitor is a 18" LCD. I would like to be able to watch TV on my secondary 15" LCD. Would I be able to do this with an ATI PCI card?

I wish ATI would make a dual head AIW.

Thanks in advance
