Seems like the lenovo is a better deal. Thoughts?

The lenovo is a better deal. The first is not a gaming pc. The geforce 610m is barely faster than the hd3000 and is slower than the hd4000. Only reason to have a 610m in a computer instead of an hd4000 which the asus has is so you do not have to deal with intel drivers or you want to market it has an nvidia geforce 1gb graphic card.

The 635m on the other hand is a medium gaming computer, its graphic is similar to an a10 but the cpu is much faster here.

Thanks Roland, do you suspect the prices for the i7's will drop more as haswell starts circulating?

Yes and no. The computer market is a market based on quarters and they have sales/clearances every 3 months for a new model is coming out. You can get some awesome deals if you can keep an eye out and buy when the time is right.

They won't be any special sales when Haswel comes out, not more than any other time when new models come out.

im reluctant to buy lenovo as im sure it comes preloaded with poopshit. someone on the reviews scooped it for $699... I'll wait a while.

The lenovo computers I've owned have all been relatively nice in my experiences. I mean I've built my last few desktops but for laptops I'm really happy with the company. Definitely some of the most durable electronics I've owned.

I actually need a new laptop so those deals look nice. A little out of my price range at the moment though 🙁

I don't know about their consumer line but the business line thinkpads are very highly regarded. I've seen so many from work, probably the least problems we run into are Toshiba Tecras but the Thinkpads are a little more robust and you can actually do some major virtualization testing, compilng, even some cad.

1. IBM/Lenovo Thinkpads
2. Toshiba Tecras
3. Dell Latitudes

100. HP business notebooks

My mom got a new Lenovo around Christmas that I setup for her. Aside from Norton, which attempts to install itself without asking until it's already started, it was surprisingly no more bloated than any other laptop I've seen lately. Anything else it came loaded with was easily removed It was a third gen i5 model, and had a nice overall build quality to it, I thought.

The HP business notebooks are sturdy. As long as you never need their tech support, it's a good experience.

If you ever have to talk to one of their tier 1 people, I highly advise you to remove any weapons or sharp objects from the house, and make sure you are sufficiently medicated.
