Two Memory Modules??

Guys....I'm planning to buy Asus K8N mobo (754 socket) with A64 3000+. I want to install 1GB DDR400 memory on this. Now, as socket 754 doen't support dual channel config......is it wise to buy two modules of 512MB?? Should I buy one module of 1GB or two modules of 512MB?? Is it safe to use single module of 1GB??

Performance will be the same either way, depending only on the timings you use (which doesn't make that much of a difference; see the benches stickied in the CPU/Overclocking forum). You may OC slightly better with one stick than two.

It's probably cheaper to get 2x512MB than 1x1GB. If you think you might move to S939 at some point, 2x512MB would let you use dual-channel RAM there (unless you added another 1GB stick).
