Two locations, two different results, same powerline adapter

Hello,
I bought 3 powerline adapters with passthrough. One I connected to my router and the other to my desktop computer and another to my laptop. On my laptop I get 25 Mbps and on my desktop I get 6 Mbps. Via wifi I get 33 Mbps on both and my total internet speed from ISP is 50 Mbps. On my desktop into the plug that I have my powerline adapter connected I have my phone, my tv and my desktop computer attached via an extension cord. Is this reducing my bandwidth at my desktop. Anything else I can do to improve my bandwidth on powerline adapters. I was expecting to get more than wifi speed via powerline adapters so that my steam link doesn't lag.

When Ethernet wires (CAT6) are used the Network traffic capacity per-se is the same across the Network.

When Wireless is used there is an additional Factor of Distance and Environment thus the same Wireless components would provide different results according to the locations.

As for Powerline that works trough the location electrical wires.

The most important variable is how many Breakers on the Main Electrical Panel the signal has to go through, and on which part of the divided 220 VAC phase they are connected to.

Some of the old houses might provide better with Powerline use since in the old days they tended to put many more outlets on the same Breaker.

In Networking, Signal to Noise Ration (SNR) is more important variable than Signal Strength per-se.

Thus, the second important variable is the Electrical noise generated by the electrical appliances that are on the system,

Unfortunately these variables can not be evaluated without expensive special instrumentation.

To make it short, same computer, same Powerline adapters, but different outlets and Wires, Yields different results.

Extension cord? Read the instructions and plug them directly into the wall. However for gaming, there is no substitute for wired ethernet LAN. Wiring up your home is more necessary than ever so might as well begin doing so. You can do most yourself with a drill through walls but not everyone's situation is the same. Hiring a professional to run a cable through an area you just can't can cost less than fancy dancy wireless routers and even awesome MoCA adapters. Seriously consider it and often it is the right solution.

powerline adapters are wonky and very sensitive to running appliances, sunspots, phases of the moon, voodoo rituals, and planetary alignment.

Run cat6 if you can. For real.

Alternatively, you'll need a dead rat and a live chicken.
