Two internet connections running concurrently?

Maybe a stupid question, but is this possible?

I play online poker as my profession and just recently moved to Costa Rica. The building I'm living in has WIFI, but it's spotty at best so I bought a USB data card as backup. How would you guys setup a backup system where the connections run parallel OR, at the very least, are quickly switchable?

Much thanks in advance!

Its relatively simple to have a router configured with dual WAN interfaces.

Doing this on the PC will not be so simple.

The main problem you will have is using WIFI as the WAN interface. Its 99% certain this will already have been through NAT, and you will need a unit that can take the WIFI signal and give a wired connection for the router.

If you need internet access for you living would it not make sense to have your own internet connection. The best reliability is from wired connections, not wireless.

You may be able to find routers that will offer dual 3G connections either using USB or the SIM, and do the failover that way. A simple wired connection using a Draytek router with a 3G USB connection would almost certainly be simpler and cheaper though.

Whether it is your connection or a stolen one, No matter what two connections can not run on the same computer at the same time.
