Two iMacs: vertical color lines on screen

Just went to friend's place. Two iMacs have vertical color lines on the screen, the CDburner could not read CDs. They are old, the system is still Tiger 10.4.7. I don't know if this is normal for old machines. Anyway to fix it? or just throw into the garbage bin?

I don't understand the question.. It sounds like hardware defects, which yes, is normal for older components in any computer.

I doubt the screen is fixable.. probably need to replace it. As for the superdrive, it could just be a software issue, but more than likely that needs to be replaced as well.
