I just purchased an AMD duallie that has two MP2600+ CPUs crunching Seti. This one will be crunching Seti full-time for me. According to my SetiQ, this system is putting out WUs every 3:45 min. Not bad for a duallie! :D:D

I am also "burning-in" a new dual Xeon 2.4Ghz Dell server for use at work. I've got four processes running on that puppy! The bad news is that I'll only be able to use Seti to burn it in for a short time. Once it goes into production, Seti comes off. Of course, that won't be happen for at least a week or two. :):)

So, my production should go up nicely for a while.

Every little bit helps :)

Very nice! :D

How many WU's that work server putting out (give an update later)!? :)

Now if I could just get my duallie going....*sigh*....

May buy a new power supply this weekend.....*grasps at staws*

According to my SetiQ, I'm getting about 4:30 min per WU.

That means a little more than 5WUs a day per process. Four processes times 5WUs a day equals 20WUs plus a day!

Sweet :)

 :D

20WUs a day from 1 machine. Nice, very, very nice. Say, I think that burn in period should last at least a month, to make sure all the bugs, glitches, etc. are truly out of the system before going into production. ;);)

:D

Back when we had it running on the servers at work we could get 20 to 28 a day depending on machines.

Blah,

You just know how to spoil someones day don't you! :D
Just got a dual athlon MP1800+ system up and running. I wish I could afford a dual XEON though.
After wondering boldly to DC forums, I have purchased 2 XP2200+ systems and a DUAL MP1800+ system, and upgraded my P4 2,53Ghz to 3,06Ghz HT P4 (running @ 3,45Ghz).:Q And just to do some crunching...

Do Dually systems take a performance penalty over putting those same CPUs in two separate motherboards?

In FAD, one person said their P3/933 scored 84, while each of mine in dual setup only got 76.

I would of thought you'd get a little better times with the 2600's. I'm new to dual processors but my dual MP1800's average 4:00:05 for 533 WU's so far. PC 2100 RAM.
I also don't let it crunch any WU's with an AR less than 0.400 anymore, which takes about 4.5 hours, so that may skew my numbers a bit.

Nice additions non the less :)

Well, it appears you're right. The earlier average I took was based on only 4 WUs. Now that the system has completed 24 hours worth of WUs, SetiQ reports the average is 3:21 minutes. This is with 512 megs of PC2100 RAM, BTW.

Glad to hear it. It's amazing how much better the older hard drives were built.

I have a 420 meg hard drive running in my firewall machine here that is at least ten years old and it still keeps chugging along!

Back to performance hit of Dually over Single, does it better or worse going from Dual to Quad (Intel primarily)?

My 2600+ MP duallie does 3:23 avg on each process at stock speed using ECC PC2100 1GB. My 2500+ Barton XP does 2:33 avg with 512MB PC2700 at stock speed.

A NewEgg purchase? The Barton 2500+ is only $72 today, so I'm ordering another. How do you like that ASUS board in your "XP Box" rig? How much was it? I've got the MSI Delta-L with my current Barton and it works great. How fast are those 1600+ that are overclocked to 1.8GHz?

The Asus A7N8X Deluxe has been absolutely awesome. I have had "zero" problems with it and it has run SETI and gaming 24/7 for months and months. I'd highly recommend it. I bought it semi-used off the boards for $75/shipped. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat, even at retail! :)
