Hi,

kinda thinkin, if i have two DSL lines, one will serve as my main line and one for backup, how can i make a fault tolerant connection to the internet using the two lines?

i mean, if one DSL connection fails, i will be automatically reconnected to the other DSL line, without my notice being transferred to the other...do i need a router for this?

anyone got an idea?

If I were really that worried about backup, I'd use disimilar media, say DSL and cable. It's a lot less likely that you'll experience a service interruption that way than two lines that most likely make a lot of the trip in the same cable bundle.

Just be sure that you can load ballance the two lines so that you can use both at the same time. IIRC only one of the providers has to support it. Also, I've seen a few people who can get 2 DSL lines from different offices. It's pretty rare that you'd be close enough to two service points, but if you are that works well too.
