That depends how devout the people are. I'm a Christian but I'm not huge on the "exclusionist policy" that all religions seem to have, ie if your not one of us your going to burn! My wife is semi-athiest, mostly she likes to wind people up 🙂
Talk about it because it can be a huge deal, some people go into relationships to convert their partner. That can lead to huge trouble. If you get really serious (marriage) discuss issues like your children's faith and what you both expect. The main thing here is to communicate with each other and your families.
