I am sure this is an easy question, but I haven't been keeping up with new boards lately. What is the difference between the Abit KR7A-Raid and the KR7A-133R motherboards (besides $20)?? They use the same chipset, have the same number of slots for memory and PCI, both support ATA/133, both have raid, etc, etc. Please help I'm confused!! Also, which one is better for a XP200+ ??

I've seen the EXACT same thing myself. On Newegg, right? I dunno what's up w/that. Maybe their webmaster is just a dumbass? Possibly, the person who updates their website is not a "hardware addict" and really knows nothing about the products that Newegg sells? I mean, car dealerships have been running this way for decades. :p When was the last time a car salesperson actually knew MORE than you about car/truck XYX than you? Never, I'd bet.

There are only TWO flavors of Abit KR7A. There is the "KR7A" which is a Via KT266A-based mobo w/4 DDR slots, and the "KR7AR" or "KR7A-Raid" (same thing) which has onboard RAID w/a Highpoint 372 controller.

I have no idea what Newegg (or whomever) is talking about with these different flavors.

Thanks for the replys. Yep, NewEgg is where I found it. I looked for a couple of days trying to figure it out before I asked you guys, but couldn't find anything on it. Then, right after I posted the question, I found it, the KR7A-Raid has ATA-100 for the normal IDE and ATA-133 for the raid. The KR7A-133R has ATA-133 support on all IDE channels. I guess i should have looked just a little longer before I asked!

I thought thought being the operative word that the 133 Raid was based on the new version of the KT266 that included support for ata133 on the primary ide ports (the onboard, non-raid ones, in addtion to the highpoint ata133 raid controller) - As I understand it that is a drop in chip replacement for ABIT so there should be NO other difference.

-That was kinda stream of consciousness, so I hope it made sense.
