On Saturday, via Windows Update, I installed 3 new drivers:
1. ATI multimedia software update released on February 01 2005.
2. ATI multimedia software update released on February 01 2005.
3. Intel Corporation modem software update released on December 10 2004.

I was on a poker web site, so there was a java program running each time the crash occurred. I don't know if the new drivers are causing this. I could really use some help with this - it's driving me crazy!

Why not run System Restore from a date prior to the driver installation? If this cures the problem, re-install the drivers one set at a time, running the computer for a while on your poker site. This should show you which set of drivers the computer doesn't like. Or, if you have SysRestore disabled, just revert back to the old drivers.

MS is not the best place to find drivers. I shy away from the drivers listed there, and go to manufacturer sites.

I agree. STOP: 0x0000000a is a driver related error. Do a system restore (or rollback the display drivers) to a point from before you did the updates, then go to www.ati.com and get official drivers from them.

Thanks, guys. I've got Win2k so all I could do was a Last Know Config which, of course, didn't help. Just d/l'ed new drivers from Asus (ATI drivers) and installed them, and can see a difference on bootup. After the splash screen, the computer was hanging on a blank blue screen before the desktop loaded. Now, it goes to the desktop right away.

I'm going back to the poker site now and see how it works. Lesson definitely learned not to let MS install "recommended drivers."
