Two computers, or dual core?

On paper, this dual core looks pretty good. Multi-tasking wise, mainly editing and rendering video (sometimes need to handle two video tasks at the same time), how about adding a 2nd computer?

what is your budget? i would think it would be best if you could keep everything local, on one computer...

If you can afford it go 2 computers, one can render 24/7 while you work on the other.

Dual core is good but it will bog down a bit when rendering. You are still sharing RAM, HD and other resources.

I have done it both ways and having multiple computers helps the most.

Well a decent configured video editing machine is going to have multiple HDDs, ample ram 2-4gb, etc...Ultimately the cost of the other trivial stuff you will have to buy for a 2nd system is money better spent on the fastest cpu you can afford or a higher grade vid card with multiple DVI outputs..
