Can anybody help me solve this problem? I have two workstations connected via a crossover cable. Both of them run WinXP Pro. They are in the same workgroup, have unique names, have tcp/ip enabled and are in the same subnet. One is 192.168.0.1 and the other is 192.168.0.2. I also have Netbios over TCP/IP enabled but somehow I cant ping the other computer sometimes. When I ping there is packet loss ....I mean three packets are good and the other is bad or vice versa. What could be the possible problem here? Again after sometime or so everything is ok? Am I missing something or does Windows take sometime to recognize that there is another system on the network after the boot up process.

Anybody?

Thanks

I would uninstall and reinstall the drivers and TCP/IP first. Then start looking for a physical problem like a bad cable or faulty card.
