Two car accidents in one day

So I had a fun day with cars today...

Over the weekend, my electrical system inexplicably never turned off, so when I got in the car on Monday, the sirius was still on, and the battery was dead. Great. I took the train that day, and got up early today to get it jumped.

I call AAA, the guy comes out and jumps me...but then accidentally knocks the locked door shut. What's that? He doesn't have a lockout kit, and my car is now locked with the engine running? Great! A friend of mine had accidentally picked up my keys a few weeks ago, so I didn't have a spare either. He puts in an "emergency" ticket for me to get another truck out to get me the keys....oh, that STILL takes 2 hours to come out.

So I'm on the road, drivin around to charge the battery up. On my way back, I'm driving down a 2-lane, one way street. A delivery truck stops at a corner and double parks. There is a car between me and him. I put on my blinker, wait for traffic to stop, and then merge into the other lane. The car in front of me is just sitting there, no blinker...as I'm almost past him, he floors it and nails the rear driver side door of my car, flies around me & through a red light so I can't chase him to get his info/plate number/whatever, without running the red myself. Great!

Later in the day, I'm on the way back from a meeting. I'm not driving, I'm in a friends' car. We're in the left lane, its rush hour, there's steady traffic. He's keeping a decent distance between cars because there's really bad glare from the sun. We comment on the car behind us being an asshole and tailgating, throwing his arms up in frustration, etc...because my friend wasn't tailgating the car in front of us. A mile or so down the road, this truck flies around us in the right lane, tries to merge back over too soon, his read end collides with the front side of our car, pushes us into the center divider. The car tries to drive off - until he realizes that there's traffic and we're following him so he won't get away. He pulls over and starts yelling at my friend for being a "crazy driver" and leaving "500 yards" between him and the next car. When the cop comes, the guy gets a ticket for reckless driving...yea, and we're the crazy ones.

All in all, an AWESOME day for me and cars!

cliff notes:
-dead battery from strange stereo system malfunction
-AAA guy locks my keys in my car while its running, has no lockout kit
-Takes two hours for next AAA guy to come
-Car hits me and drives off through red lights so I can't get his info
-Car hits my friends car because he wouldn't tailgate in traffic

Sucky day, and sounds to me like your friend shouldn't have been in the left lane.

see at first you might think that from the story, but it was steady, rush hour traffic - he was going the same speed as everyone else, its not like other people were coming into the lane in front of him. He was just leaving a decent cushion between cars.

Ok, my bad. Then that truck driver got what he deserved.

Note, this is not necessarily directed at the OP, just a general rant:
I don't get why everyone's so impatient when they're out driving.
I find it amusing to point out hypocritical commentary when I'm driving with someone. The driver will yell about how stupid someone else is for doing something. But then a little while later, guess what, the driver does the exact same thing. You know what? Just take it easy, and focus on getting there safely. If you hurry, you might save a minute or a few seconds, at the cost of an increased risk to yourself and others. Not worth it.

Its not the impatient ppl that concern me on the roads. they are quite predicatable. Its the silence before storm ppl like you who, when they lose it, come out with spanners and clubs. Not directed at post, just a general rant.

Similar thing happened to my aunt in december, some guy in a delivery truck hit her parked car and drove off aftyer him and when she caught up and got out the guy backed up and hit her again !!!

Guy had no idea hit her either time..😕

I'll let you know the next time I "lose it.":0
That applies to any occasion, not just driving. I honestly can't remember the last time I've lost it and even yelled at someone. Quite a few years.
