Two beeps on post with MSI P35 Neo

Hello,

I have recently installed MSI p35 with a Intel q6600 cpu and 4gb ram. During startup I get two quick beeps which is supposed to stand for "parity error". However, during post I don't see any error messages (when I go through them with pause) and I run Vista x64 with no issues so far. I have 2x2gb sticks and I have tried each individually and I still get the same beeps. BIOS says I have 3328mb usable memory but that seems to me as a 32/64bit issue, in Vista it shows 4gb just fine.

Is there something to worry about? I've tinkered with the mobo rather much since the stock hsf installation didn't go very smooth the first time.

Thanks for any help.

2 short beeps means Parity circuit failure. This relates to parity checking. The circuitry used to check the parity bit on system memory is failing, which means the motherboard is defective.

I don't think there is necessarily a problem. I've had mb's that will beep once or twice while booting and continue on with no errors.

Where are you getting the list of beep codes?

The available ram reporting is normal.

So every mb with an ami bios follows these beep codes exactly? I don't know for sure but would expect not with all of the customization by the various mb manufacturers.

any board that uses AMI stock bios follows this, if they modify the bios, then that's their fault, like what Dell,HP do.

well I don't think there's a problem with the memory sticks since it's low chance both of them would fail. I don't have any issues right now at all but I'll look into getting the mobo replaced.
