the compusa 80g hd deal sparked my interest. i thought i would get more answer here than the hot deal forum
so if i run these 2 80g 5400rpm hds in raid 0 would it be faster than a single 7200rpm hd?
also cound i partion them (30gig for system/os and 130gig for data/media/backup) after creating the raid array using the winxp disc?

Honestly, it really depends on what you are doing with your computer, your hardware configuration and other factors. To make it simple, if you are using your pc to do video editing or other things that require the movement of large files, RAID is the way to go. But, if you are setting up a server of some sort and the storage array will be accessed a lot, faster RPM is the way to go. If you want data security, RAID has better options as well.

You really need to ask yourself what you are doing with the hardware you have, the software that you are using, and then you can come up with a good solution?
