two 256 chips or 1 512 chip for an amd xp mobo

2 256 sticks = dual DDR

1 512 stick = not dual DDR

performance increase with 2x256 is like 5% at best, and not necessarily worth it if you ever want to upgrade your RAM

buying 1 512 would allow you to later on buy another 512 to make a gig..
it's your choice 😛

read some reviews.

If it is "far cheaper" for a 512mb stick, go with that. With amd dual channel doesn't buy that much performance.

You could always buy 2x256 and then buy 1x512 if you want to upgrade AND stay in dual channel ddr mode.

thats kinda retarded though. MOST people who use onboard video cards most likely don't play games on their pc. so runnign dual channel for the benefit of increase video performance is irrelevant, and waste of money.
