Two 1TB RAID or WD Black 2TB

Hi there,

I am trying to decide what HDD to get for my current system.

The choices I have seem to be:

2x Samsung 1TB in a RAID

vs

2x WD Black 1TB in a RAID

vs

1x WD Black 2TB

Price isn't really that much of a difference, Samsung is the cheapest, then WD Black 1TB, then WD Black 2TB.

Pricing aside, which of the three above would perform the best?

The new 1TB black drives lack the native ability to do raid just a heads up for you not sure if the same is with the 2TB.

I wouldn't put 2TB into a RAID0 array. I understand the need to have a fast array for programs and OS, but having the fastest array possible at the expense of higher failure rates and an almost impossible position to recover from isn't really worth it for a data array IMO. So I'd go with the single WD drive. Simpler, easier, and more useful, and you get to form a bigger RAID5 or RAID6 array in the future if you really want to.
