i haven't watched G4 in years. truly terrible, what that network has become.

It is sad zdtv became G4. A network that covered all the tech news and reviews of things like ipad, software, motherboards and video cards on a tv channel with actual useful information could really be a success if it had the proper backers.

it's all about the money. catering to wailing preteens gets them more advertising dollars than catering to fairly discerning techie people, i'd guess.

edit: even after techtv was gone, G4 used to be a hell of a lot better than it is now. but zd/techtv was certainly the 'heyday.'

Looking at G4 makes me just fucking sad. I remember how awesome TechTV used to be. I used to watch that channel every day when they had Call for Help and The Screensavers.

How did execs think G4 was a good idea? They turned a useful channel into utter and complete garbage 24/7.

If E3 is willing to sell exclusive coverage to such a crappy network, then I'd guess that E3 is no longer relevant.

Many developers no longer attend because it has become so commercialized and controlled by the bigger publishers like EA.
