Twisted Metal delayed to 2012

Not too surprising as it was on my mental list of games scheduled for fall likely to be delayed. Still, Jaffe says the delay is for the right reason.

Sony has been – and remains – a super supportive champion and collaborator on this title and all of us at Eat Sleep Play are so grateful that their patience and generosity will allow us the extra time needed to polish our demented baby until it shines.

Anyway – it sucks bad when games miss their announced launch dates. We’re gamers too and we know how annoying it is. It’s disappointing and frustrating and it really takes the wind out of your sails if you’re a fan that has been looking forward to playing a title for a long time. Thing is, you gotta trust me when I tell you that – with this extra time for tuning and polish – the game is going to be so much better than it already is. And if you played Twisted Metal and liked it at E3 or Comic-Con, or if you get to play it (and you enjoy it) at one of the August shows, just imagine how much more fun the final game will be with some extra time, polish, and love.

There’s a great, classic industry saying by legendary Nintendo designer – and personal hero – Shigeru Miyamoto that goes a little something like this:

‘A late game is only late until it ships. A bad game is bad until the end of time.’

When was is supposed to be released? Seems to me it was being released right around the same time as some other AAA games, which probably would have hurt sales. Probably a good decision in the long term.

Was supposed to be early October.

It would have been released the same day as Rage, and the same month as Arkham City and Battlefield 3. I wouldn't stand a chance. If they release in Jan/Feb of next year their sales will probably be much better.

as i've stated in the past, delays are good for us. otherwise we get half assed products (ie, Gears 2 multiplayer at launch, mortal kombat 9 online).

This. I'd rather have a late product than a crap product *cough* black ops *cough*.

Thats a really good quote about bad games and delays. I guess the flip side is gamers get REALLY pissed when a game is delayed and STILL bad.

I'm glad TBH, I thought October release was really a little too soon. I want it now, but I'll be glad to wait for a better product.

So sad this won't be coming out for 360... The original Twisted Metal games (especially #2) were some of my favorites ever.. 🙁

And you actually thought it would be at any point?

Bummer... I wanted it 🙁

End of the year will be full of games though as long as more aren't delayed.
