Is it really worth it to spend the extra cash on twinx ram or just buying a couple of corsair or kingston hyperx chips seperately?

Short answer: NO
Long answer: Nope
Really long answer: It is a marketing gimmick. Im sure any two sticks from the same batch that were tested could be "twinx" or whatever. They just wouldn't sell as much ram overall because of the price premium. Sell 3 sticks @ $10 profit a stick compared to selling 2 sticks at $14 profit a stick. Basic marketing/business.

Actually now, if you want to buy twinX sticks of corsair, the twinX is cheaper than if you bought the same sticks separately.
This may not be at all of the retailers but it is at newegg now. It wasn't like that though when they first came out.
Now you can save a few bucks, but not alot (and it only comes in "LL" so that's a premium in itself).

I see Corsair XMS PC3200LL 512s for 142 each and the twin of 2 512s for $283.50 at newegg.
