I came across this deal from the HardwareCentral forums. It looks pretty good because 6ns RAM should be rated at 166Mhz. I don't know of anybody who has bought or tested this RAM though.

Ouch...ummm...many other sticks are "rated" at 6ns, but that is some synthetic BS number (burst rate? Ahh...it's been awhile since I've addressed this and can't really remember :(). It's true rating is probably 7 or 7.5ns- especially coming from a no-name, yahoo shopping site, and with such a low price. Not to mention that is the first time i've ever heard of TwinMOS.

I could be wrong though...in fact, I hope I am. :)

I just noticed that the picture of the RAM module is clickable on their website, and the RAM has a sticker on it that says PC133 128MB VCM. Doesn't the VCM stand for Virtual Channel Mode or something like that? From what I can remember VCM memory is a bit faster than regular memory...

That review said that the TwinMOS was running at cas2, but it looked like that memory program he used said cas3, am I wrong? Also does anyone know if this stuff is Virtual Channel? So is this a good buy?

Well I'll be damned. Just when you I thought SDRAM had peaked, here comes a new technology to market. I'm definitely biting on this. I'll post benchmarks when I get 'em.

I can confirm this are the PC133 -6 rams. its the older ones.
Their latest offering is PC166, which is only available in Asia, not in US.

The latest PC166 has a -6E on them.

Yes, they are 6ns.

I'm having a group buy on this but i'm not allowed to post on the Sale/Trade forums. last order on 15 march.

mikef,

The photo shows the stick to be VCM.

Won't be able to find out if this is true until Monday. That's when Shentech's CSR's will be back.

thats the best info Omega65 has posted.

to my knowledge, if a Crucial 7ns can run at 155mhz 222, i dun see why a 6ns chip will not beat it flat. :)

And Twinmos is a 1st party ram, just like Samsung. They produce their own PCB board and chips.

Kingston,IBM,Viking etc.. are all 3rd party ram makers.

Is it just me, or does the TwinMOS label look edited when you zoom in the picture at the store?

Well then, is it Virtual Channel - VC ram or no?
The reviews don't mention anything like that.

sounds like a good deal... i've had a good experience with TwinMos ram before.. they overclock pretty well, so this is a good deal if the company's legit... i dun quite trust these yahoo.com stores...

I've got a stick of 64MB TwinMOS that will post and boot at 166 but won't run on any thing but Fast setting in the bios. The scores I got are 580/641 which is the same I had for two Mushkin Mosel 128MB at 155. I think it's pretty good for a small stick of ram not pair with another. Just my opinion though. Let me know what you think.
