You mean in cars or in computers :p

I am going to assume you mean cars because of where this is posted, and because I have no idea what a twin or quad turbo on a computer is :p

In a car anyway, a turbo forces air into the engine. A turbo is powered by exaust pussing on a fan of sorts, but the fan doesn't become usefull until it gets to very high a Very high RPM 20,000 to 30,000+ a smaller turbo will "spool up" or reach this speed faster resulting in less turbo lag. The more turbo's in a car, the smaller that they can be made. A twin turbo is good at about 3000 engine RPM A Single at about 3500 to 4500 RPM a Quad about 2000 or so. Unless you are buying a Porsche or building your own car you will have a hard time finding a quad.

Any other Questions?
( and yes, I am a Master Certified Tech and work at a Chevy Dealership, but own a Dodge. The guys hate me :p )

Aren't too many quad factory setups, and I don't think you would want one anyway. Most likely out of your price range and probably a pain in the ass to maintain also.....here is an example of a factory quad carlink

do you get more PSI by adding more turbos?
how about gas mileage?
law of diminishing returns? - does it get progressivley better by having more turbos?
why not have 3 turbos?
is it worth to step to dual or quad over a single - what else is incurred by doing so?

the Ford GT90 has quad-turbos on it's V12 which produces around 700hp.

Bugatti has quad turbos also.

They are not built on the same block, but a swap is possable. The 4L60E is the backbone of chevy, with almost any engine being able to bolt to it. You will need a new bell housing though. Also, the swap will require a new custom wiring harness for the LT1. Also, the LT1 donor engine has to be of the same year or newer to be smog legal. You might be able to find one in a junk yard, or more likely at a insurance auction. Ask your insurance company, or any other one for that matter to keep a lookout for a insurance totaled 99-01 Vette. If one is not forthcoming you can apply for a CARB exemption with the Secretary of State in your state. Good luck if you live in Clafornia.

Also, your Whipple charger will most likely not fit on the LS1 without a custom manifld.

It would be much more cost effective to increase the performance of your current truck. You can increase the output of the whipple with a smaller pully. But if you dot hat you will need High performance injecters as your truck is prolly starved already with the hyper-efficent Whipple. you could also install a port injected NOX kit. These are available through many retaillers like Jegs. ( jegs.com ) Model # 741-05088 this kit can get you into the 10's with the full 300 Hp increase. You will need to upgrade to Forged pistons though for durability reasons. Also think about headers. you can gain another 50 HP or so if you get the right ones. Talk to some people online who have your truck or one like it to see some ideas. Make sure that your headers are ceramic coated for heat disapation and long life.

Your quotes on engine RPM are pretty generalized. My 84 Capri RS Turbo starts boosting at around 2000, with full boost before 3000. Rev limit is hit in the blink of an eye.

Actually there is a few Quad turbo charged engines out there. They just require a class A license to drive the vehicles they're in and they don't have excellent handling compared to the average sports car :)

Skoorb: well, where they tend to be is in cases where a single or twin turbo setup would required Geo Metro sized turbos and McDonalds kids playland sized plumbing.

Quads on a car would just be hideously complex and expensive.
