TP was one of my favorite shows. So quirky and strange and unique. So many "weird" and "strange" characters.

The Coen brothers started making their movies around the same time, and I see a distinct similarity. They seem to have derived a lot from David Lynch.

Maybe I'm too young to appreciate this show...but what makes it so good? I got through half of the first season before I quit it. I couldn't get past all the weird shit that was going on with the random bits involving the dancing midget, the bad acting from the detective....and the music.

Maybe Ill try to watch it again.

All the screamingly-hot chicks, + out-of-box imaginative writing that broke away from Hollywood formulas (but if the next round uses those same chicks, as rumored, they'll be withered old crones in tennis shoes)

I loved it when it first came out (I was in college at the time) but to me it doesn't hold up (at least based on my recent effort to re-watch it with my fiancee - we made it through about four episodes). It feels like all style, no substance. The dialogue is ham-handed and often the show is just boring.

I'm still bummed that Harry Ontkean isn't involved. Though I think I read something about his retirement being medical related - so it's possible he just couldn't.

Also Michael Cera?

Very much looking forward to it, I keep meaning to watch my BluRay release of TP that I got a few years ago but, you know, haven't yet lol.

I didn't watch the show when it first aired but found it on Netflix and decided to give it a try.
I'm finding it hard to get into the characters and storyline. How many episodes do I need to watch before it draws me in and gets me hooked?

Counting the days...

So many unanswered questions;

Did, Pete, Audrey, and Andrew Packard survive the bomb blast at the bank. From the castlist it looks like Audrey did survive.
Did Leo survive the spiders in cabin?
Did Cooper return or is it his evil doppleganger from the Black Lodge?
How is Annie? (don't think Heather Graham is returning)
Did Josie's soul get trapped the the Great Northern Lodge?
Is there really someone trapped in Log Lady's Log?
Who really is the father of Lucy's baby?
Where did James go and has he returned?
Are Bobby and Shelly still together? Or did Shelly run off with Gordon?
Has Ben Horne stayed on his path of goodness or has he returned to his previous life?
Was Ben really the father of Donna?
Did Ben stop the Ghostwood developement and saved the weasel?
Did John Justice Wheeler return for Audrey as he promised?
Did Big Ed finally leave Nadine for Norma?
Is Norma back to her normal crazy self?
Who attacked Doctor Jacoby by the Gazebo?
Has that gum you liked really come back in style?

Damn good show. So many good lines...

Gordon Cole: WHAT A BEAUTY. REMINDS ME OF THAT STATUE, THE BABE WITHOUT THE ARMS.
Dale Cooper: The Venus de Milo.
Gordon Cole: THE NAME WAS MILO BUT THAT'S BESIDE THE POINT. THAT'S THE KIND OF GIRL THAT MAKES YOU WISH YOU SPOKE A LITTLE FRENCH.

I admit I have never watched an episode of this show.
It's new season has spurred my interest in though. Pretty much everyone I know (whom I value their TV opinions) loves this show to no end. so I will give it a shot.

Don't go in to the new without watching at least the first season of the first. It won't make any sense. I'd say try season 2, but you could get by with a summary if you get bored. Season 2 is not as good, especially the back half of the season.

Yeah I plan on watching Season 1 first of course. I've been warned about Season 2, but I will give it a try regardless.

Normally I never have any difficulty getting into acclaimed shows, but I took a stab at Twin Peaks a few years ago and it just never grabbed me in any way.

So... Who watched this last season? I got into it late, mainly due to the band Silencio, which pays homage to Lynch and Badalamenti. Watched all three seasons and Fire Walk With Me. I'm not much for pulling all the fine details out of video, but I've mostly enjoyed reading the interpretation and insight from others(some people take this shit WAY too seriously, and seem like they're only a hair away from being a creepy stalker showing up on Lynch's doorstep).

S03 was a visual spectacle. Peculiar and dense. Enjoyable isn't completely the right word, but intriguing and interesting; like going to an art gallery for me. I just look, and I either like it or I don't, but there can be more there for those inclined to pursue it. Not standard tv by any stretch. It really came off as a labor of love. I liked it, but would have liked to have seen more of Audrey. Hopefully he does more with the show. It has loose ends like a towel that that's hung outside for 25 years, so there's room for more.

Watched all of it...
....
????
I just flat don't understand what I saw.
Like Agent Cooper in the red room where the ugly "tree" object hissed at him something like, 'this is my sound..." WTF? Was that supposed to connect to the sound of the high tension electric wires where Agent Cooper later went?

What was the whole point of dragging us through...
the trailer park scenes with Harry Dean Stanton?
the dead person the baseball-playing boys found?
the giant man in the alt dimension red room proclaiming he's the "fireman?
the whole episode(s) of the young people staring at a plastic box, who both then died by violence?
the bit about another dimension atop a boulder? WTF did we give time to that???
the present-day hideousness of younger day, long time GONE beauty no more Sherilyn Fenn? Wayback then hottie goddess, now aged into a hag...with a husband from Harry Potter flics?

Maybe (yeah probably) the producers and directors were all drugged out when conceiving and directing this???

...something's W A Y "off," .... WTF did I watch????? Made absolutely NO SENSE. Booooo I gave you hours of my life and in exchange YOU gave me absolutely self-indulgent crap. Boooo
