Thoughts? Sounds like a good game but which control scheme is better?

If I get the Wii version, can I use a GC controller? Or am i forced to use the motion controls?

what do you guys think?

Is it required that you use the Wii controls, in the event I don't like them?

Oh, and if I never played Wind Waker, or Ocarina of time, should I play those first? Or are the stories not really related?

Not really related, but you should play OoT as soon as possible anyway :p

The Wii version does require you to use the Wii controller. You cannot use a GameCube controller.

I used to have a Wii and one of the games I played was Twilight Princess. I HATED the controls. My wrist would actually get sore from having to twitch the Wiimote around in order to get Link to swing his sword. I guess they had to decide between making it more likely to accidentally trigger the sword swing or forcing you to swing the Wiimote fairly hard, and they chose the latter. Also, the pointing for the bow and slingshot didn't work that well either.

I'm biased because I never liked the Wii controls, especially the pointing (it's laggy), so keep that in mind. I would have much rather had the GameCube version but I didn't have the GameCube controller or any GCN memory cards.

Yea the crappy motion controller was hard to precisely aim when shooting things with the slingshot or bow. Get it for the GC if you can.

That makes the decision very easy. GC version it will be then.

That means I will need an actual GC controller, correct? do I also need an actual memory card, or will it save to the Wii?

Yes you'll need a GC controller and memory card.

I slightly preferred the wii version, I thought the pointing worked very well. Only trouble I had was with the nunchuk motion for the shield bump. I played the GC version first and felt like it was really made for the wii, especially regarding spin attacks and aiming. But either way it is a great game.

The Wii version was so much better than the GC version it's ridiculous. Think going from playing an fps with the arrow keys to using a mouse and keyboard(That's how much better the Wii version is in certain situations, such as using the bow, fishing, or flying). I played through the whole game on both and the Wii's controls are sharp and definitely add to the game.

I'm not sure why people are slagging the Wii aiming controls in Twilight Princess, because I can't imagine doing any of the slingshot or bow and arrow portions of the game without them. Admittedly, the remote twitch to sword slash control was less entertaining, but that was mainly because it took me about half of the time playing the game to unlearn attacking with the A button from previous versions.

I would get the Wii version. The controls were good overall, but the constant twitching to swing your sword got annoying sometimes. Would have been perfect if you could have also attacked using a button on the controller.
