Tweaking monitor for best text sharpness

new Sony G420S
1600x1200 @ 85 (its really nice in games)
But text doesn't look super sharp, is there any way I can tweak it to maximum ?
I turned on cleartype which I've mostly used in the past only with LCD and it seemed to define the text better/darker... otherwise it was kind of funny looking/grey/thin-like and was harder to read.

Any tips would be appreciated,
