I have windows 2000 and am trying to tweak my cable modem. I want to set the MTU setting through the reg file. But when I get to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\currentControlSet\Services I have no Class directory. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

MTU isn't what you should be focusing on, it's the TCP Receive Window (RWIN) (as long as you don't have much paket loss). You can find all about it at dslreports, works a whole lot better than MTU.

Taken from dslreports:

The most significant parameter for TCP/IP tuning is the TCP Receive Window (RWIN). Most other tuning attempts usually do little or no benefit and may actually cripple proper TCP/IP connectivity as exemplified by so called MTUTweak programs that aim to optimize the line for dial-up use.
