TV's with card slots

I have been out of the TV game for a while, but my parents are buying a TV and want to mount it above their fireplace. I know a while back some TV's came with card slot. You would then get a card from Comcast so you didn't have to mount the box next to the TV. Does this still happen? Is there a different technology? It would look very awkward with the boxes up on the fireplace. Any advice would help.

Thanks

it's unfortunate that technology such as 3d and on line streaming have pushed to market so quickly while cable management is still zip ties and scotch tape for the most part. I'd like to see some better solutions that would allow mounting the display anywhere without having to worry about interconnects cluttering the wall. Wireless technology perhaps? I'm not too excited about punching holes in my wall to run hidden cables, what's the point anyway, it's not like I have anywhere to hide a cable box, blue ray player, and HT receiver. The form factor of all connecting components needs to shrink before wall mounted flat panels really make sense to me.

To answer the question, you'd probably be best off contacting your cable provider, they may not even support devices other than a cable box.
