tvs from circuit city

Not that I condone this, but i've heard they're more apt to negotiate if you get all the monster cables, warranty, etc.. Then come back later and return the extra crap, keeping your reduced price TV.

Again, not condoning it, just heard it works YMMV

I worked for circuit city in their computer department. The General Manager told me once, he doesn't care about computer sales that they are there just for the customers and he hates the fact they sell them. He said he is all about the TVs and that is where the money is at. The TVs have such a huge profit margin that they know you will buy from whoever gives you the best deal, so yes you can negotiate but don't be pushy, become "friends" with the hourly sales associate (Who doesn't care if you buy or not) in order for the sales manager of the TVs to come over and ask if you have any questions, this is where you go in for the attack.

At Sears, the TV sales guys would give you their wife for the night to sell you a tv its sick. They will bend so much on a TV. They have a book that shows how much commission each TV provides (Ex Sony Bravia 42" 4.5, Samsung 32" 5.6, etc) They also know the cost of the TV so they know not to go below that. They usually bend ~ 10-15% off.

Agreed on Sears and haggling. They are very accomodating.
