Tversity + MKV

Is is possible to somehow stream Mkv files onto the PS3 while on the fly transcoding it from MKV to a playable format? I have several gigs of MKV files and I don't want to use mkv2vob to transcode every file and save it.

why don't you just plug your computer into your TV?

Save on Cables, Time, intermediate, it's not like PS3 will make the image better, if anything worse.

Have you actually used a PS3 to watch HD content streamed from TVersity?
You seem to be on an anti-PS3/pro-PC tirade, which is odd since you're posting in "Console Gaming"

Well, i'm also posting from experience. I have a PS3 and i've tried EVERYTHING related to streaming, and it was not worth the time put in. Frustration, while all the while I could've just done wireless to laptop if the stream is 720p mkv and below.

I am very much pro console gaming, I hate how much i've spent keeping up with pc gaming, 'excuse my recent g-card purchase'.

Well, I can assure you I get higher quality from my PS3 than I did from my HTPC (which is on the old side) 😛
It's also much more convenient, and I was fortunate enough to not run into any major problems with the setup (other than having to convert mkv via GOTSent, which isn't that big of a deal)

LIES, All of it!

I have a HTPC and Xbox360.

I get mostly .mkv's and use the HTPC to do those. My HTPC is pretty old... AMD64 3500+/2GB RAM/6600GT-AGP and it can only do 720P. I use the onboard sound's spdif to send my receiver the 5.1 and works pretty good with VLC or MPC.

The Xbox360 is nice when I get wmv's or avi's, but my HTPC is setup pretty solid at this point and it's all used for.
