TV Won't Turn On

I bought a 32" LCD from Costco about 2 years ago and really haven't used it. I left it unplugged and in a dry corner, and have literally turned it on for less than 1 hour in the last 2-3 years.

I just tried to use it today, but it won't turn on. When plugged in, the red light comes on. I then press Power on the remote or the TV itself and the red light turns green. The screen stays black, and I can't get anything further. Nothing happens when I hit any button on the remote or TV (including Power). The only way to turn it off is to pull the plug.

What is going on with the TV? How do I fix it?
Thanks

yes, I had the coax cable from the satellite receiver screwed in. I'm not sure what that has to do with none of the buttons on the TV or remote working though.

I would have thought that not using the TV was actually prolonging its life, but could it have dried up or something?

Well, I deduced my thought from you saying when you press Power on the remote or TV, the light turns to green.

Because you didn't think to include any sort of valuable information regarding your TV make/model/etc, I am left with only logic. And logic tells me if you press a power button and your TV led turns green, then it was a possibility of the TV simply not having an input signal.

See why it would have everything to do with your power button on the TV or remote now?

Just trying to eliminate the possibility of it being a really stupid fix.

Another thought could be since you didn't have it plugged in, it might not have had a way to ground itself. If said power cable was simply laying on the carpet, there's a possibility static electricity could be the culprit. Simple vacuuming can cause quite a bit of static electricity...

I'd try to hit the "menu" button to see if you get something on the screen. It should appear with or without a signal source.

If it still doesn't work and it has been less than 2 years, your Costo warranty should still be in effect.

I didn't mean to sound ungrateful, and appreciate any help.
The TV is a Digital Research 32" 720p (1080i). I think the company only makes that 1 32" one.

When turned on, the TV makes a faint humming noise, which I guess means it's actually on. Unfortunately, there is no picture. And nothing I press, whether it is on the remote or on the TV itself makes any change whatsoever. This includes the Power button. So I can turn the TV on, but I can't turn it off.

As for static, the TV was plugged into a surge protector, which was not plugged into the wall.
