TV Wonder 650 = Hangs after post

I wanted to see what you guys think about this...

My system is built as follows:

P5W DH Deluxe BIOS rev. 1407
E6600 Core2 Duo @ 2.4GHz
2GB Corsair XMS2 memory @ 800MHz
BFG 7900GT
2 optical drives
1 Seagate 7200.10 320GB HD
2 Western Digital SATA 120GB HD's as a mirrored array
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value
Antec TruPowerII 480
Antec P-180 case
4 120mm fans
1 80mm fan

I am running Vista RC2 Build 5744 with no apparent problems. System has been stable since I built it a few months ago. Never locks up in games or anything.

I wanted to mess with the media center features in Vista so I bought an ATI TV Wonder 650 wich is Vista ready. I plugged the card into the 2nd PCI slot right below my SB and the computer just hangs after post before the sliding bar animation starts. I thought it was a driver issue so I tried safe mode. Still locked up at a certain point. (lights on USB mouse and keyboard turn off when it freezes). I even tried booting from the Vista DVD and it locked up during the sliding bar animation as well. Same thing the USB ports lose power and the system locks up. I removed the ATI card and took the soundcard out, unplugged most of my drives etc and tried the 1st PCI slot. Same thing happened. I was suspecting my power supply but I am not sure.

I took the ATI card and plugged it into my wifes computer.
Asus A8N-LA MB (Compaq)
Sempron 3800+ (soon to be Athlon X2 4400+)
7300GT video
1.5 GB mem
1 hd
1 fan
1 optical
Antec trupower 380 (swaped out crappy Compaq PSU when I put the 7300GT in)

The computer booted up fine into Vista RC2 and the TV tuner drivers installed and the card seems to work perfectly. I just cant figure out why it wouldn't work with my P5W DH Deluxe...

Any ideas? I guess it could be my PSU? Has anyone else had a similar problem with this card and motherboard? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

(meant for this to be in the P5W DH Deluxe post...)

Well...

I tested my powersupply and it is fine... Also, I was able to install Windows XP Pro with the tuner card intalled in my system. I am sending a bug report to Microsoft because it appears that there is some sort of driver conflict that exists in Vista relating to my particular hardware configuration.

Might try using a PS2 mouse and keyboard, with no other USB devices plugged in.
Maybe even: disable the USB ports in Bios setup.

Thanks for the reply. This was definitly something I hadn't tried so I plugged in a PS2 keyboard and then disabled USB in the BIOS. I was still unable to even boot into Vista Setup from the RC1 (5600) or RC2 (5744) installation DVD. I sure hope this gets fixed. I doubt I would be the only one with a P5W DH Deluxe that will have problems.

May be a sound card driver conflict. Are the beta Creative drivers installed?
Or: try removing the Audigy sound card and use the onboard sound instead.
Obviously, the on-board sound should be disabled in bios, when using an add-on sound card.

I think I just about tried everything...

I removed all PCI cards except for the TV-Wonder, disabled all hardware add-ons in the BIOS (1394, LAN, etc...) I also tried my wife's video card instead of mine - Still will not boot from the Vista Installation DVD or boot into my Vista RC2 installation. Remove the TV-wonder from the system and it boots up and runs fine...

I took the TV Wonder back and purchased a Hauppage PVR - 150 MCE. Windows Vista installed without any problems and I didn't even have to install any drivers for the Hauppage card. It seems to work ok. The image quality is not quite as good as the ATI but I am happy with it so far.
