TV wiring idea... how would I implement?

I have a DVD player and VCR inputing to my Computer's capture card, which also has Video output and a Sound Blaster Live! Value in my upstairs room. What I want to do is run the video output and sound from my soundcard to my downstairs family room TV. So I don't need to buy another DVD player, VCR, ect (money isn't really an issue, as I'd like mostly to have output from my computer to the family room computer). I will be having a guy come to run the wires of my network and cable... I need to know what wires I would need him to run from my upstairs room to downstairs. I have heard of people using a central box of some sort so they can output devices to a certain channel of the house, so every TV in the house can view what my upstairs room outputs on say Channel 86.

I'm looking for:

Suggestions on how to implement this, as I am somewhat novice to this type of thing.

What kind of wires should I use? What box is this that would allow me to tap into a channel of my cable.

Any other ideas on how to get what I want done.

Thanks in advanced 🙂 All help is appreciated.

It's not going to look very good if you don't use the component outputs on the DVD player to go down to the TV. THat's what I'd do...

Component out from DVD directly to the TV downstirs.
S-Video or RCA or whatever other video output to the computer.

Same with the sound if you want decent surround and such.
Optical or Coax sound directly to the system downstairs, RCA sound to the computer.

Best of both worlds.
