Just bought a new 60 inch 1080p Mitsubishi WD-60C9 television...absolutely beautiful!

I am having a problem though and can't trace the problem.

When watching Blu-rays, and ONLY Blu-rays, the screen will go black for a few seconds then the video will kick back on with the input number popping up on the TV as if I switched to that input. This tells me that either the TV is losing signal or the video card in my HTPC is kicking off (ATi HD 4850).

I have no idea if it is the TV or my HTPC...surfing the web, playing games, or even watching AVI movies the TV never does this. When I had my HTPC hooked up to my old HDTV (Sony KD-34XBR960) watching Blu-rays never caused this, so I can atleast say with a certain feeling that its not my HTPC...but if it isn't why is the TV cutting off? I have my desktop resolution at 1920x1080 and play all my games in the same resolution without a hitch.

Also switching to different HDMI inputs (3 in all) does nothing to fix the issue.

In either case, its annoying and completely unacceptable. If ANYONE knows whats going on it would be awesome to hear your advice. Thanks!

A lot of mitsu's do this with cable boxes especially. It's the TV. Just be glad it works after the hdcp does it's dance.

My TV does this with my satellite box when changing channels. It's a Samsung though.

Does it do it just randomly or is it when you switch chapters/menus?

With the sat box all you need to do is turn off all the different resolutions except on. On a directv box go into the setup and go to display, then turn off all resolutions except 1080i (this is usually the best on to leave it on but set it according to your display).

Hope that helps.

No, it happens just completely randomly...and whats even weirder, and I noticed this today as I finally had time to watch a whole movie, is that after a while itll quit doing it...so it starts randomly and frequently and then will stop about an hour in. And this is with ALL my movies, well not all, but the 10+ that I've tried...

I got a new HDMI cable so Ill see if thats the problem...Ill let all of you know as soon as I do...

Nope, HDMI cable definitely not the issue...so I am only left with the TV or my graphics card...again, TV and HTPC = no problems ever UNLESS I am watching Blu-ray...thats it!

HDCP problem, check if there's a firmware update for your TV.

Games, web surfing, watching AVIs, etc. Those things don't have HDCP, but Blu-Ray does.
