TV tuners with Clear QAM

That would basically be the only reason I'd get a USB tv tuner. I don't have cable tv service but I miss 24Hour News service. CNN used to be available when you did a direct hook-up, but no more.

My experience with my cable company Charter, has been that they encrypt everything now except for locals and some of their audio only music channels.
It is really going to depend on your local company. Hook up the cable to a tv that has a qam tuner and see.

That's the problem. My tv is a 2004 Philips HDTV. I don't think it has a QAM tuner. It is only showing basic channels. I guess I can buy the tuner and return it if it doesn't work.
