I was thinking about getting a tv tuner http://shop.ati.com/product.asp?sku=2407447

only because i'm moving to a new building and it has a closed circut television in the information that the building gave us it says (when the cable guy installs my cable that he has to put an a/b switch and when you want to view the cct you change the tv to channel 13 and hit the a/b switch. and vice versa to watch tv....) would that be possible, on a computer tv tunner?

Plus I just found out Comcast is going to be installing digital services in my building next week and I will be getting their DVR. How will the camera thing work then if I decide to go with the tv tuner?

Of course. It's just like any other tuner.

The DVR service is built into the cable box and controlled through the remote (or, I guess, through an IR blaster hooked up to your computer). I have to question why you would need both DVR service and a TV tuner in your computer, unless you want to watch TV on your computer as well...

no I ment that right now the whole building has anlong service and next week we have the option to upgrade to comcast digital, and I will be getting the dvr for my living room tv.... does that explain it?

Will it work if I don't have a "reciever box" for my computer?

Watching digital cable through the analog tuner on your card will work, but you'll only get the analog channels (1-100 or so), and you won't have the PVR features or any other digital cable features (program guides, etc.) Unless your cable company has all their channels scrambled, but most do not do this.

If your cable service is fully digital, then this analog TV card won't be able to do anything. You need to either use a DVB-C card, or use an external such tuner and hook that to the SVideo input on the TV Wonder.

its not fully digital... right now we still have analog cable.... within the next week we will be getting the comcast DVR for the other room, but that shouldnt have anything to do with the plug that is in this room
