Hi, I recently upgraded my friend's TV Tuner to a PCI-E ATI 550.
I only got the bare card, so I got the drivers off the internet and downloaded a copy of Beyond TV.

Problem is , my friend is a multi-lcd owner, and he used to have a game running on a LCD, and the program (for his older tuner) on the other screen. Beyond TV uses way too much cpu or videocard juice, therefore he can't do that anymore. Any one got an idea of a software my friend could use?

why not use the ATI PVR software? you dont need a TiVo-like app to watch TV. i had an ATI once and i always used the bundled software. for the last 4 years i've been using Hauppauge's PVR-250 (the ATI card was too old) and i still stick with the bundled software.

another thing you can try is to set the priority of BeyondTV to "Below Normal". you can do it via Task Manager. i say that because my PVR-250 always loads with a "High" priority setting, which is too much for my old P3-700Mhz.

It looks like the ATI 550 could be a HD tuner. Is he receiving HDTV digital signals with that card? They take a lot more processing power than analog, just for moving bits around.

Meanwhile, my HD tuner died recently, but I heard someone mention WatchHDTV as a good option.

The Tuner looks hd, but he's plugging it into a Analog satellite receiver.
I'll go check out the ATI PVR.

the 550 pro is not an HD tuner.

I use it for my HTPC running MCE 2005.

The tuner normally comes with Power Cinema.
