TV tuner recording help, please

I have the ATI AIW 8500 128MB card with an analog TV tuner. I recorded a 55-min file in MPEG-2 that came out to 2.45 GB. When I play it from start to finish, it plays fine. If I jump to any point in the 55-mins the audio and video become out of sync, and they dont ever catch up to one another. I've tried this in both Windows Media Player and ATI's FilePlayer and the audio is out of sync on both. Did I do something wrong in recording?

The file was recorded at 640x480 (6.00 M Bit/second), with audio at 44.100 Khz, 16 bit, stereo.

try with windvd or whatever dvd software you have (unless you just have media center for that) and see what happens, I have seen media player have problems with keeping large files in sync when you skip around.

I tend to use RealPlayer for long files. I suspect it is Microsoft's codec that is at fault for the loss of audio sync.
