TV tuner question

hi guys im looking to buy a tv tuner card to watch tv and to convert my VHS tapes to DVD.
my biggest concern is that if it will be able to still be used once everything is converted to digital. I know a few of the hauppage tuners that i was looking at will not work.

I have narrowed it down to this one because im pretty sure it can do digital but i was just wondering if ill be able to use to for converting VHS to DVD.

i dont care about having a remote so its no big deal that i have the lite package.

Also what software is best for watching tv / converting VHS tapes?

One more question, will this card work with mythbuntu as i would want to try to use it in linux as well.

For VHS to DVD, you need an analog video input - an S-Video typically.

As for the after-the-job use, the first and foremost thing YOU need to figure out is: What kind of TV? Satellite, cable, or antenna? Digital or analog? Open or encrypted?

yup this comes with this thing:

wow thats a long link

i have comcast cable tv and i know theyre making the switch in 2009 to all digital.

i know the hauppage card i was looking into stated that its was unable to receive digital signal.

i remember somewhere reading that this card would be ok.

if anyone knows let me know, it will be greatly appreciated.
