TV Tuner needed for LCD monitor

i'll be in a place this summer where there is a cable tv connection. I'm gonna bring my 15" dell lcd, and a laptop. But i need an external tv tuner. The viewsonic nextvision is way too expensive. Does anyone know of a cheaper solution?

thanks

I guess I'll post once more before I go to bed.

If you don't already, I'd recommend using BitTorrent. I'm getting a tuner sometime this week and am going to try to up every game I can. PM me for more details.

Ok, seriously goodnight AT. Oh and Ross, we know, you got a great deal on your 2005fpw. Now stop bragging or somebody is going to go up to Oregon and steal it.😛

Why are you bringing a laptop AND a LCD monitor?

That Hauppage Rossman linked to is pretty nice.....

Help a TV Tuner Card newbie?

I have a Dell 2005 FPW and I'd like to buy an internal PCI TV Tuner card that will connect directly to my monitor so I can run in one of the PIP modes (including side by side, or top/bottom) that the 2005 FPW supports. I'll mainly want it to watch sports while I surf, but there's always a chance I'll want some decent capture ability. I don't need the FM tuner I've seen on some units.

Any suggestions on what to buy? My comp specs are below - I have an Antec SX630 case and I'd like to keep everything as neat as possible (limited desk space & flakeyUSB support have eliminated external models).

Thanks in advance for any advice. Can't wait to get this set up.

I don't really see a reason to hook it directly too the monitior, the PIP feature kind of sucks.

I have a Leadtek Winfast TV 2000 Expert card in my Shuttle and it works well, hooked up to cable.

The software is somewhat ghetto but I'm probably one of the only ones using the stuff it comes with. I can make the video window any size so I don't need PIP. It can also record and it's quite easy.
