i need to get a tv tuner, and i'm using win2k. i've heard of some compatibility issues with win2k and some tuners. Can anyone reccomend a tv tuner, with nice quality, that works well in win2k? quality is my #1 concern. and i don't really care too much about video capture

thx in advance

if you really want quality, then i'd stay away from hauppauge. i bought their wintv-d for 50 bucks (when it was in the "hot deals" forums) and while it works well, the quality is very disappointing.

I have the ATi TV-Wonder, it's pretty sweet. I had initially got the hauppauge WinTVGo, but prompty returned it because the quality just sucked! The TV-W is nice because you can capture directly to MP2 and MP1.

ATI works fine in W2K, but you got to run it in the user ID you installed it (it crashes for me when I am in my login) but since I installed it in administrator it runs fine there.

I have the same problem with Adaptec Easy Cd Creator 4.0

splic: You've got your Tv Wonder capturing to MPEG 1/2 directly in Win2k? Can you tell me (or post a url) on how to do this? I've never been able to find such a feature on mine (actually, I've never gotten it to capture in Win2k; I can just watch tv).

Uh, I just hit the record button. :) It's worked every time. I Just use VCD MPEG1 and rip simpsons episodes to CD.

Get a Pinnacle PCTV Pro. Use this program here:
dScalar, with this program you don't have to install drivers at all, plus you get high quality software deinterlacing, assuming you have a fast cpu.

I use dScaler to watch tv on my ATi TV Wonder, but that program does not support video capture. It would be awesome if it did though. I did just try virtualdub as well. I'v been able to get it to rip to DivX but not to MPEG yet. Anyone know which codec(s) I have to install to let me capture to Mpeg (1 or 2, doesn't matter much) instead?

If you can afford it, the hauppague WinTV-PVR is very very good.

When I did a review on it comparing the TV pic quality with the Voodoo3 3500, it just makes the Voodoo as though it has not connected to the antenna point properly. Not that the pic quality on the Voodoo is bad, just that the PVR is much better.

PM me your email and I sent some screenshots over.
