TV Tuner card

I recently visited a friend who had a DVR setup at his house and we watched some TV shows he'd recorded on it. It made me decide I wanted something similar, but I don't want to have to buy a tivo type thing and pay for a service when I can just get a TV tuner card for my computer and record to my HDD. The problem is I don't know anything about these cards. I tried looking online for reviews with no luck.

I realize that different countries use differnt broadcast things, so I'll give as much input as I can:
  • I'm in the USA
  • I'm getting my signal through my school's cable setup (not sure if it's digital, analog, whatever)
  • I'd prefer something that can do hardware encoding/decoding as to put as little strain on my CPU as possible
  • I would like something that I can schedule to record a show at a given time to watch later
  • I think it's in the sig, but computer specs: AMD 2800+, 1 GB of ram, a 6800 (in case any cards have a potential for compatability issues), and enough HDD space for pretty much any recording I will do
  • I don't want to spend a fortune on it, I guess I'm looking to spend <=$100

I looked at newegg, but all I could find there were vidoe cards with built in tuners and (as much as I'd like to upgrade my 6800) I don't have the money for such an investment.

Thanks

There is NO reason nto to get HD now.

From a quick google I found ATI's site talking about it and they want $150 for it. That's a bit out of my price range. As much as I'd like a HDTV card, I'm really not wanting to spend that much.
