Tv tuner card/Vid card conflict

Um from what i heard from the technician at fry's today....

my vid card bfg 6800GT OC is sucking up too much power for my leadtek winfast tv2000 XP card to function. He showed me that in order to get it to work, i'd have to place it further away from the vid card. I did that, and it still won't allow the vid card to boot .... any suggestions?

psu is a TT purepower 420

What else do you have in your system? THe fry's tech was giving you a load of crap and didn't know what he was talking about. Are you saying you are getting no display when you boot up? Do you have the 4 pin molex connector connected to the video card?

yup...i have the 4 pin molex in the 6800gt....and it was true that the closer i move the tuner card really close, like within one slot, it actually burns.

He (the technician) was testing my system parts (minus mobo, which needs rma) on a gigabyte card. Right now i have a msi k8n neo just to run for time being.

system components:
amd64 3200+
msi k8n
160 gb seagate HD
2 512 corsair 3200LLPT 2-2-2-6
bfg 6800gt
4 case fans
thermaltake purepower 420

the pci tuner card is not plugged bc the vid card will not boot (black screen, while the rest of the computer boots)

Does your TV tuner card work in another system? It's possible the tuner card is bad, and causing the system to not boot when it's in. I have a bad PCI network card that causes the system not to boot, and no display, so it's possible. The TV tuner may be getting hot when it's directly under the video card, from the exhaust fan, but it still shouldn't burn. And it will use the same amount of power weather it's under the video card or not.

well when i took it to fry's to get all of my system looked at, the technician said it was being recognized, but since i forgot to bring the drivers in for it...he said it was recognized as some pci bridge thing....and he got it to boot up somehow

he told me to set the thing as away as possible from the damn vid card, and its just not working for me. Unless i'm having grounding problems with it, but i did remove the metal plate at the end of it to test if it was causing problems.

i'm gonna call leadtek today and see what they say.
